  Ondo Assembly impeaches Deputy Speaker Published   on   November 24, 2020 By   Abdul Babajide The Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Ogundeji Iroju, has been impeached. Iroju was impeached on Tuesday with Aderoboye Samuel representing Odigbo Constituency 2 elected as the new Deputy Speaker. The motion for the removal of Iroju was moved by Tomide Akinrogunde following a parliamentary resolution where the former Deputy Speaker was alleged of gross misconduct which the lawmakers said was inimical to the progress of the Assembly. The resolution was said to have been signed by 20 lawmakers which was said to be in line with the Standing Order of the Assembly. Aderoboye who was the Deputy Speaker of the House during the fourth Assembly in his acceptance speech pledged to work with other stakeholders.   Defence counsel’s Ill-health stalls ex-Gov Aliyu’s trial for alleged N2b fraud November 23, 2020 By  Ripples Nigeria Absence of one of the defence counsels on Monday stalled the alleged N2billion trial of the former Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu, at the Federal High Court, Minna, on Monday. Justice A.B. Aliyu was forced to adjourn the case till January 18 and 19 next year after Mamman Mike Osman, the counsel to the former governor’s chief of staff, Umar Gado Nasko, was declared ill. However, the prosecution counsel, G.O Adebola, rejected the application for the adjournment of the case on health ground, saying he went to a great length to bring witnesses from Abuja and Port Harcourt and other places to the court. However, the ex-governor’s counsel, Musa Sulaiman, supported the application for adjournment of the case.
